“Where the Fire Burns” unfolds as a journey narrative. Ayse, who falls ill unexpectedly, requires immediate surgery. Her family rallies together to ensure the operation takes place. During the procedure, it is discovered that Ayse is fourteen weeks pregnant. After the operation’s success, Ayse remains silent about the identity of the baby’s father. The family, initially united in their efforts to “save her life,” now turns to the grim task of “ending” it. Osman, her father, assumes the duty of killing her and embarks on a journey with Ayse. As Osman contemplates how to poison his daughter, Ayse remains unaware of her impending fate. This father-daughter trip evolves into a journey of mutual discovery and remorse.
