The Shadow Play

Tang Yijie, who serves as the Director of the Construction Committee, meets his end by falling from a rooftop during a chaotic demolition protest. Yang Jiadong, a young officer in the police force, begins to investigate and discovers that Tang’s demise is linked to an incident from several years prior. Despite being falsely accused and temporarily removed from his position, Yang remains determined to uncover the truth. The movie explores how people and families have accumulated wealth over the past three decades since China’s reform era commenced.
