The Most Precious of Cargoes
In a vast forest, a destitute woodcutter and his wife struggled with the harsh realities of cold, hunger, poverty, and a surrounding war. One fateful day, the woodcutter’s wife discovers an infant girl, abandoned and thrown from one of the many trains that frequently traverse the forest. This child, deemed the “most precious of cargoes,” will profoundly impact the lives of the woodcutter and his wife, as well as everyone she encounters—including the man responsible for her being cast from the train. Some will go to great lengths to protect her, regardless of the consequences. Their tale will uncover both the darkest and most noble aspects of human nature.
