
The Chessplayer
In 1934, Diego Padilla emerges as the victor of the Spanish Chess Championship and encounters Marianne Latour, a journalist from France, sparking a romantic relationship. Following the conclusion of the Civil War, Marianne persuades Diego to relocate to France with their daughter. However, soon after their move, Diego faces accusations of espionage by the Nazis and is detained in an SS prison. While incarcerated, Diego attempts to endure the harsh conditions by leveraging Colonel Maier’s enthusiasm for chess.
