The Ballad of Ramblin’ Jack
With the support of her mother, family, friends, and fellow musicians, Aiyana Elliott embarks on a journey to connect with her father, the iconic cowboy troubadour, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott. She delves into his identity and the path he took to become who he is, weaving together archival and modern footage. Born in Brooklyn in 1932, Jack’s journey took him busking through the South and West in the early 1950s, spending a year with Woody Guthrie, six years honing his craft in Europe, and making a celebrated return to Greenwich Village in the early 60s. He mentored Bob Dylan and lived a life on the road, moving from one performance to the next, sharing songs and stories. As Jack nears the end of his long journey, he is honored with a Grammy and the National Medal of Arts. What discoveries will Aiyana make for herself along the way?
