Little Einsteins
Little Einsteins is an animated series aimed at preschoolers, broadcast on Disney Junior. The show was brought to television by Douglas Wood, who developed the original idea and characters. It was further developed by a team led by Emmy Award-winning director Olexa Hewryk and Eric Weiner, co-creator of JoJo’s Circus, and produced by Curious Pictures and The Baby Einstein Company. The series made its debut in Japan on TV Tokyo on October 5, 2005, and shortly after in the United States on the Disney Channel on October 9, 2005. The second season premiered in Europe on the Disney Channel during the Christmas season, and in Japan, it aired on October 8, 2007, on Playhouse Disney Japan.
The purpose of Little Einsteins is to introduce young viewers to art and music appreciation by weaving well-known or culturally important artworks and classical music into the episodes’ visuals, storylines, and soundtracks. The show also aims to engage its audience by encouraging participation; at the conclusion of each mission, the character Leo announces “Mission Completion!” followed by the Little Einsteins performing the Curtain Call. After this segment, Leo bids farewell with “See you on the next mission!” as the curtains close, and in the second season, a “That’s Silly” segment is included.
