Picking Up & Dropping Off

Television host Will Chaney is as charming as they come and a loving, dedicated father to his young son, Benjamin ‘Ben’. Unfortunately, Ben is the sole positive outcome of Will’s marriage. Due to divorce custody arrangements, Will collects Ben from Denver airport at the beginning of each major school holiday and tearfully returns him at the end. During these airport visits, Will encounters Jane, another divorcée who similarly picks up and drops off her daughter. Both Will and Jane, who are committed but part-time parents, avoid dating to prevent their children from experiencing another painful separation. Fortunately, their close friends—Will’s cameraman Charlie and Jane’s sister Georgia—encourage them to start dating. Once Ben becomes comfortable with the new situation and starts calling Will ‘dad’ instead of by his name, he gives his important approval. He even prefers Jane over the only other woman Will has introduced to him, leading to Maddie’s departure. Ultimately, Will contemplates making a significant decision.
