Paradise in Service

Set on the island of Kinmen, known for its precarious position near China and regarded as one of the most hazardous military bases, “Paradise in Service” chronicles the journey of a young man fulfilling his military duty in Unit 831 from 1969 to 1972, amidst the looming threat of war. Due to an unfortunate lottery draw, Pao, a young man in his twenties from Southern Taiwan, is compelled to serve in the isolated and dangerous Kinmen. He is placed in the Sea Dragon (ARB), a unit infamous for its grueling physical training. However, Pao soon discovers that his biggest challenge isn’t the Sea Dragon but rather his assignment to Unit 831, a unique task he is later given. In this unusual role, Pao is determined to maintain his virginity against all odds.
