Our Last Tango

María Nieves Rego, aged 80, and Juan Carlos Copes, aged 83, first crossed paths at the ages of 14 and 17, respectively, and shared the dance floor for almost five decades. Throughout those years, their relationship was a tumultuous mix of love and animosity, marked by several difficult breakups. Now, as they approach the twilight of their lives, they are ready to candidly discuss their complex emotions and shared passion. In “Our Last Tango,” Juan and María recount their story to a group of young tango dancers and choreographers from Buenos Aires, who then transform the most poignant and dramatic moments of their lives into stunning tango performances. These beautifully filmed dance sequences complement the introspective interviews and documentary elements of the film, creating an unforgettable exploration of the essence of tango.
