It’s Better to Jump
In the ancient port city of Akka, situated on Israel’s northern coastline, a centuries-old seawall stands as a testament to its rich history, which dates back to the era of the Egyptian Pharaohs. Today, Akka is a vibrant city where Muslims, Christians, Jews, and Baha’i live together. A daring tradition persists among the youth, who climb the 40-foot, one-meter-thick wall to leap into the turbulent sea below—a rite of passage that has been passed down through generations. “It’s Better to Jump” explores the historic walled city of Akka as it faces significant economic challenges and sweeping social transformations. The film delves into the hopes and worries of the Palestinian residents who inhabit the Old City.
