Herbert White
Michael Shannon takes on the role of Herbert White, a character inspired by Frank Bidart’s poem of the same name. The narrative explores Herbert’s life as he works in the lumber industry, provides for his family, and secretly hunts and kills women he encounters in town. Although Herbert is far from a sympathetic figure, the film offers viewers a glimpse into the psyche of a serial killer, revealing that he often behaves like an ordinary person. While films like “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” have tackled similar themes, achieving such an immersive experience into the mind of a complex human monster in just 14 minutes is truly remarkable.
