
George Wallace
“George Wallace” is a 1997 TV movie featuring Gary Sinise in the role of George Wallace, the former Governor of Alabama. Directed by John Frankenheimer, who earned an Emmy for his work, the film also garnered Emmy awards for Sinise and Mare Winningham. The screenplay was adapted from Marshall Frady’s 1996 biography, “Wallace: The Classic Portrait of Alabama Governor George Wallace,” with Frady co-writing the teleplay. Frankenheimer’s film received critical acclaim, winning the Golden Globe for Best Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for TV. Additionally, Angelina Jolie won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Wallace’s second wife, Cornelia.
