False Confessions

Dorante, a young man struggling with poverty, is hired as a secretary by Araminte, a wealthy widow he secretly adores. Meanwhile, the valet Dubois goes to great lengths to make Araminte fall for Dorante. After directing Marivaux’s comedy at the Odéon theater, Luc Bondy transforms the entire theater into a film set, positioning his actors in unconventional locations like the foyer, beneath the stage, and in the kitchens, creating a fresh interplay between theater and cinema.
