Charlie Bradford, a filmmaker in his 30s with big dreams, is striving to break away from the tumultuous environment of his childhood. His quirky mother, Linda, is a compulsive hoarder battling depression, interspersed with bouts of manic shopping sprees, and she tends to hold onto the people and possessions she cherishes. Charlie’s younger sisters still reside with Linda: Lisa, the elder, has a past of minor theft and works as a home healthcare aide, while Penny, who is working to overcome her crippling shyness, is embarking on a new career as a home stager in a struggling real estate market.
