After completing a decade-long prison sentence, former gang leader S. Lance Ingram returns to a transformed Harlem, finding it difficult to adjust. Despite having gained technological expertise while incarcerated, Lance is unable to put these skills to use and instead takes a job delivering meals for a neighborhood food bank. During his deliveries, he forms a friendship with Ms. Maddy, a 75-year-old woman with a tough exterior and a history of beauty. Through their connection, Lance discovers renewed hope and begins to rediscover the pleasures of life, even amidst the challenging environment they inhabit.
