Ce qu’il faut pour vivre
Set in the 1950s, this poignant drama follows an Inuit hunter named Tivii, portrayed by Natar Ungalaaq, who is sent to a sanatorium in Quebec City to recover from tuberculosis. Separated from his family and culture, Tivii struggles to adapt to the unfamiliar environment until he forms a bond with a young orphan, Kaki, who speaks his language. The film, directed by Benoît Pilon, beautifully captures the themes of isolation and cultural displacement. It was Canada’s official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 81st Academy Awards. For those interested, the movie can be viewed for free on Soap2day.
