Burton and Taylor

This TV drama, inspired by Richard Burton’s diaries, chronicles his final performance in 1983 alongside his former wife, Elizabeth Taylor. After years apart, they reunite, and he consents to her proposal to co-star in a Broadway revival of Noel Coward’s comedy ‘Private Lives,’ despite Taylor’s inexperience on stage. Burton soon regrets his decision as her pill addiction and lack of discipline create issues during rehearsals. Although critics pan the play, it draws audiences eager to see Taylor. After a tumultuous two-month run, the show closes, and Taylor confesses to Burton that she has always loved him and still does. A year later, Burton passes away.
