Blackbird

In the late 19th century, two siblings from the Solomon Islands, 16-year-old Kiko and 24-year-old Rosa, are abducted from their Pacific island home and compelled to labor on a sugar cane plantation in Queensland. In an era where the exploitation of Pacific Islanders for inexpensive labor is legally sanctioned and their working conditions resemble slavery, Rosa faces the challenge of watching over her lively younger brother as he transitions into adulthood.
