“Landfill” is a documentary born from the intriguing contradiction surrounding waste. While the majority aim to dispose of it, I encountered a group of women, trailblazers in recycling, who actually long for the discarded items from others’ homes. Since embarking on this filmmaking journey, much has transpired, both in the media with its fresh yet misleading sustainability narratives, and in my own personal connection to waste, as I took on the role of ‘householder.’ This film centers on these seven women, who are genuine authorities in their field.
