In Kabul on August 14, 2021, the Taliban are on the verge of entering the city, prompting France to begin preparations to evacuate its embassy. However, the unexpected collapse of Kabul the following day forces a hasty revision of these plans. Diplomats and police from France, Italy, Germany, and the United States must quickly organize the evacuation of hundreds of Afghans and refugees to the airport.
