Theodore Roosevelt seems destined for success—he’s a Harvard alumnus from a distinguished family, an up-and-coming political figure, and his wife, Alice, is expecting a child. However, his bright future takes a dark turn. On the same day, his mother passes away from typhoid, and Alice dies during childbirth. Overwhelmed by grief, Teddy abandons his city life of skyscrapers and elite circles for the barren Dakota Territory. There, by confronting the brutal challenges of frontier life, he aims to transform himself into something more extraordinary.
