Bound By Honor

Inspired by the real-life experiences of poet Jimmy Santiago Baca, this film centers on half-brothers Paco and Cruz, along with their biracial cousin Miklo. Set in 1972, the narrative begins with the trio as members of an East L.A. gang called the “Vatos Locos.” The plot delves into how a violent crime and the lure of drugs dramatically reshape their lives. Miklo ends up in San Quentin prison, where he establishes a new life for himself. Cruz, despite his talent as an artist, falls victim to a devastating heroin addiction. Meanwhile, Paco becomes a police officer, positioning himself as an adversary to his “carnal,” Miklo.
