Asako I & II

This Japanese romantic drama follows the life of a young woman who falls deeply in love with a free-spirited man, only for him to suddenly disappear. Years later, she meets a man who looks exactly like her lost love but has a completely different personality, leading her to question the nature of love and identity. The film stars Erika Karata and Masahiro Higashide, and it was directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi. It was well-received at the Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the Palme d’Or.
