Lou

In the rural setting of New South Wales, Rhia, a working-class single mother, is grappling with debt collectors while trying to raise her three young daughters. Her eldest, Lou, who has matured too quickly, holds Rhia responsible for her father’s disappearance 10 months ago. The tension between mother and daughter escalates when Rhia decides to take in her father-in-law, Doyle, who is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. Initially, Lou is hostile towards Doyle, but her attitude shifts as he captivates her with thrilling stories of his adventures in the South Seas. However, Doyle’s mind is most preoccupied with fragmented memories of Annie, his late wife. Soon, he begins to see Annie in Lou and imagines himself wooing her once more.
