American Dreams
American Dreams is a drama series from the United States that aired on NBC, produced by Once A Frog and Dick Clark Productions in collaboration with Universal Network Television and NBC Studios. The show was the brainchild of Jonathan Prince, who developed it alongside Josh Goldstein. Prince also served as an executive producer with Dick Clark. The series premiered on September 29, 2002, and is primarily set in Philadelphia. Initially, it was broadcast on Sundays at 8:00 pm Eastern time, but from March 9, 2005, it shifted to the same time slot on Wednesdays until the end of its third season. The narrative centers around the Pryor family living in Philadelphia during the mid-1960s, with the first season covering 1963–64, the second season 1964–65, and the third season 1965–66. In Australia, the show was initially titled Our Generation but reverted to American Dreams for its second season.
The theme song, “Generation,” was composed and performed by Emerson Hart, the lead vocalist of the band Tonic. This song won Hart an ASCAP award for Best Theme Song of Television in 2003. Additionally, the series was honored with the “Future Classic” award at the 2003 TV Land Awards.
